What is the GRE?
The GRE General Test is an English-language examination designed to assess
skills needed for demanding academic study. It evaluates the ability to analyse,
reason, interpret texts and present ideas clearly rather than only memorised knowledge.
GRE requirements vary between universities and programmes, so applicants should
always verify the current admission requirements of their chosen institution.

Current GRE General Test structure
The GRE General Test currently takes approximately 1 hour and 58 minutes.
It contains one Analytical Writing section, two Verbal Reasoning sections
and two Quantitative Reasoning sections.
Verbal and Quantitative sections are section-adaptive. Current structure,
question counts, scoring and official preparation materials should always
be checked directly from ETS.
What is the GRE score used for?
GRE scores may be used when applying to master’s, MBA, doctoral and other
postgraduate programmes. Not all programmes require GRE results, and some
treat them as optional or as one part of a broader application.
